Contrary to my original prognostications, both players have been a main force behind AC Milan, and Milan are looking like they might take their first Serie A title since 2004.

Having seen almost all of the AC Milan games , I can see why Milan took the decision to get both player, the pair have become the San Siro Stars.

Ibrahimovic has scored 13 goals in Serie A alone this season, bagging another four in the Champions League before the New Year and Robinho has added another nine to Milan’s tally of 44 goals this term.

Robinho has scored 9 goals and Ibrahimovic 13 goals in Serie A plus another four in the Champions League before the New Year.

Both players seem to have matured at Milan under the guidance of coach Massimiliano Allegri.

The move was sealed late last two days with the approval from both parties and club before the end of the summer transfer window on 31 August.

An official statement on the Milan website read: “AC Milan communicates it has acquired the player Robinho, outright from Manchester City. The Brazilian has signed a contract with the Rossoneri club for four years.”

Robinho, 26, joined his home club Santos on a 6 month loan deal that finished last month August, back to Manchester city he stated that he was seeking a move away from the club.

The player has already successfully undergone a medical and the Rossoneri will pay €18 million plus bonuses for his services, although the fee was officially undisclosed at the time of the announcement.

The Brazilian international will link up with Ronaldinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexandre Pato to form one of the most exciting attacks in Europe this season.

El jugador brasileño ha sido infeliz la liga inglesa en la cual no ha brillado como le conocemos.

Los 32,5 millones de libras que pagó el equipo ingles fueron los más altos pagados en el fútbol de ese país en 2008.

Se apuntaba que el destino de Robinho era el Barcelona, pero el jugador afirmó que su padre y empresario espera concluir esta misma semana las negociaciones para su regreso el Santos.

Parte del salario en el Santos será pagado por el Manchester City, dueño de sus derechos deportivos, y un grupo de empresarios socios del equipo brasileño.

El acuerdo entre el Manchester City y el Santos le permitirá al equipo inglés tener la primera opción por los juveniles Paulo Henrique Ganso, centrocampista, y Neymar, delantero, quienes en la actualidad son las principales figuras del conjunto del puerto paulista.

The player’s move to City has not been a success and all parties are beginning to accept a transfer is in everyone’s best interests.
Robinho has made 32 Premier League appearances and scored 14 goals. But an ankle injury means he has played only three times this season.

A source close to him said: “It is looking highly likely Robinho will get his move. Barcelona are very keen.”

“We have good players but if the club wants to be big, we have to sign more,” Robinho told Setanta Sports. “I have suggested Kleber, the Santos left back, Thiago Silva who plays at center back for Fluminense, who’s been playing very well. The coach (Hughes) mentioned Luisao, who is Brazilian and plays for Benfica.”
“The team needs to improve the defense,” Robinho said. “When you build a house you have to start from the floor. You have to start from the bottom, the defense, and then you fix the attack.
“Who would I sign? If I could choose it would be Kaka and (former Brazil striker) Ronaldo.”
Robinho seems to forgot that he’s just a player and not the CEO or manager of the club, so these recommendations should have been done on private conversations and not to the press, as their current team mates could understand that Robinho is disrespecting them as players.

“City have good players but the mentality of a small side,” Robinho said. “They are content with just finishing fifth or sixth. They are content with little, thinking just a draw might be good enough. They lack is the mentality of champions. I have learned that being second is worthless so I want to inspire a winning mentality.
“You can only be content with winning. You need to want to beat Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool. Maybe I have changed this a bit but now City have a project to become big, the mentality has to change.”

After this bruising derby win, which kept Manchester United in the title hunt despite six bookings and a red card, it would seem Fergie has also dipped into tennis coach Brad Gilbert’s famed coaching manual entitled “Winning Ugly”.
For that is precisely what United did against their neighbours at the City of Manchester Stadium. They will be hit with a £50,000 FA fine for the halfdozen bookings, but that is a price worth paying for the significance of the three points gained.
Wayne Rooney’s 100th club goal in first-half added time gave United a vital win which has kept them bang in the title race and ensured they gained revenge for City’s Premier League double over them last season.
But after two successive derby defeats, United were in the mood to put their nouveau riche local rivals firmly in their place and did so with a ruthless efficiency which was not properly reflected in the slenderest of scorelines.
Only when Cristiano Ronaldo was dismissed with 21 minutes to go did United find themselves under any kind of pressure.
What this result showed is just how far City must improve if they are to realise their ambition of being on a par with the likes of United and challenging for the major prizes. On this evidence, they are years away from reaching that level.
